Nicknamed “the biggest little town in Oregon,” Butte Falls is Jackson County’s smallest town with a population of just over 400. Despite its small size, Butte Falls has grand outdoor attractions-- like its quiet namesake Butte Creek Falls Waterfall and high-Cascadian Willow Lake--to offer you a reprieve from the velocity of big city life. With summers that are less hot than surrounding areas (July’s highest temperature averages 88 degrees), this former logging town is surrounded by timber on all sides and is listed in Ripley’s Believe It Or Not as the only town in the USA with a fence completely around it.
